Lamborghini gallardo Carbon Airbox and hose kit from fab speed

The tuning company Fabspeed has released a new airbox for the Lamborghini Gallardo. The carbon fiber unit combined with red silicone hoses work together to make the engine bay more aggressive and at the same time extract an additional 12 HP from the 5.0-liter or 5.2-liter (LP560-4) V10 engine

The aim of these products is to add maximum energy, aerodynamics and audio experience. The Fabspeed MAXFLO red silicone hoses enable a smoother airflow in contrast to the original black hoses.

The bright red color makes the engine section look enormous and makes the austere Gallardo engine bay even more striking. This upgrade will increase the power output of all Gallardo models and can be installed in less than 20 minutes. Fabspeed produces the world’s highest-quality "MAXFLO" exhaust systems made from T304 stainless steel, as well as carbon fiber high performance air intake systems for all top performance vehicles such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, Masserati, and Porsche sportscars.

Lumma clr x650 gt (modified x6)

When BMW released the X6 they created a new segment for automobiles, the Sports Activity Vehicle. Lumma Design have taken that idea to the extreme and are preparing the CLR X650 GT for Geneva. The vehicle has significant aerodynamic improvements as well as some refining touches to the interior.

Bugatti veyron centenary

It’s been 100 years since Ettore Bugatti first starting putting his rare and fast creations on the street, and to celebrate it, the company that bears his name may be going to try and take back the fastest production car crown.

Bugatti will unveil a special edition Veyron in Geneva. It will be called the Centenary, and it should have 1350 hp (349 hp more than the current Veyron.) This is rumored to take the top speed from 253 mph to 264 mph. If true, the Veyron Centenary could take back the title of fastest production car from the 256 mph SSC Ultimate Aero.

Koenigsegg Quant

It’s been a while since we’ve heard any news or rumors from Koenigsegg, but now the Swiss supercar maker is using its home turf to show off something new. The Geneva Motor Show will be the place that Koenigsegg will show off a concept for a new vehicle called the Quant (teased above). If this is the long-rumored four-door sedan, then it may be upstaging cars like the Lamborghini Estoque with this muscular sedan.

Koenigsegg will have another, less exciting, premiere in Geneva. It will debut a new infotainment system for the CCX. This will incorporate all of the supercar’s systems into one touchscreen, and bring some definition

2011 BMW Z-2 CONCEPT

BMW left a hole in its line up with the new Z4. The car is not too big, but it does put a wide enough gap between it and its predecessor, the Z3, to take it out of direct competition with like the small, lightweight Mazda MX-5. Not likely to leave a market wide open for other companies, BMW is rumored to be working on a Z2 model for featherweight fun.

The Z2 will be built on a modified Z4 platform, and unlike its bigger brother will only be offered with a choice of four cylinders engines with a maximum capacity of two liters. The base version will be a 1.8-liter with 150 hp, while a “M” version could be a turbocharged car with an output of around 300 hp. Like previously reported, a hybrid version is also in the works and a M version might also be a possibility.

The Z2 will be offered with BMW’s latest technologies, including active steering, dual clutch gearbox and active suspension. The price will be somewhere around the $30k area and the official debut will be made at the end of 2010, with sales to begin in 2011.

Lamborghini mercielago special edition LP-650-4

Lamborghinis are already pretty rare, so owing a special edition means being part of very exclusive company. Lambo is going for the ultra-rare territory with a Murcielago LP650-4 Roadster that will be limited to 50 units.

What should make this one so special is that it will borrow the 6.5-liter V12 from the Reventon. While the engine in the standard Murcielago LP640-4 shares many components from the Reventon, the ultra-rare bull has about 19 more hp than the 631 hp Murcielago. The outside of the new roadster should share the same grey paintwork as the Reventon, but it will also get bright orange accents.

2009 honda city wallpapers and specifications

The new City comes with a 1.5 Litre I-VTEC Engine, i believe it should be the same as the newly launched Honda Jazz’s engine. As far as i remember, this powerplant churns out about 120 horsepower, which i think is really really a lot for just a 1.5L engine !

On the first look, you will feel that its like a reduced size of the latest Honda Accord, as the front grille feels the same, even the headlight feels like the new Accord ! So you get the feeling of driving a mini-Accord.

The new engine, which is also shared with the new Honda Jazz is fitted with Honda's acclaimed i-VTEC system, which provides excellent performance and flexibility, without compromising fuel economy or emissions. The new engine gives the Honda City 100PS, a healthy 17 PS increase over the previous model. This extra power helps the new Honda City complete the benchmark 0-100 km/h in just 11.8 seconds for the manual version, an improvement of 1.6 seconds. The automatic version hits 100 in 14.7 seconds, almost half a second quicker than before.

Gumpert Apollo speed to be Debut in geneva motor show

The Gumpert Apollo is one of the cars we always like. It takes an Audi 4.2-liter twin-turbo V8 and makes one of the quickest cars around. But that doesn’t seem good enough for Gumpert, because it is bering an even faster car to the Geneva Motor Show.

It’s called the Apollo Speed, and aerodynamics are its claim to fame. Gumpert will still offer the same choices of 650 hp, 700 hp or 800 hp (race-only) variations for the Audi V8, but revised body work will return 0 to 62 mph (100 kmh) in 3 seconds and hits the its top speed of 224 mph in 8.9 seconds in 700 hp form.

Things that haven’t changed on the car include the delicious carbon / aluminium sandwich that holds the Apollo together. We don’t yet have full details on how different the Speed version will look, but all will be revealed to us at Geneva in March

Chevrolet Matiz by FAS

The Daewoo-made Chevrolet Matiz doesn’t usually get much attention on TopSpeed. It’s 0.8-liter three cylinder engine is nice for an economy car, but we’ll still take the Corvette instead. But that may change with the introduction of this Matiz touched up by Yves Fourdin, founder of Fourdin Auto Sport (FAS), and a few of his enthusiasts (not engineer) friends.

They left the computer at home and put in about 1,500 hours of good ’ol fashion wrench time. FAS grabbed a 505 hp 7.0-liter V8 directly out of a Corvette Z06 to produce this little asphalt-kicking machine.

A factory-fresh Matiz can make the 0-100km/h (0-62mph) in 17.6 seconds the FAS version will do it in about 3.7 seconds, and can go from 0-200km/h in 10.94 seconds. The top speed has been increased significantly as well, from 144km/h (89 mph) in the factory version to 260km/h (163mph) in the hot-rodded Matiz.

The Matiz was completed in 2008 and is currently being showcased in Belgium at the International Racing Show Liège. We didn’t get fuel economy figures, but we’re pretty sure it is slightly down from the original car’s 89 mpg.

New Hyuandai Tucson Revealed

This is the Hyundai HED-6 SUV concept, revealed by Hyundai ahead of the car’s official unveiling at the Geneva motor show on 3 March and likely to spawn the replacement for the Hyundai Tucson small SUV.

That next Tucson, set to be called the Hyundai ix35, is expected to make its debut in production form at the Frankfurt motor show in September. It will go on sale in the UK in spring 2010.

The Hyundai ix35 will also be the first Hyundai to receive the Korean firm's new range of petrol and diesel engines.

Petrol-powered Hyundai ix35s will get a range of downsized turbocharged direct-injection petrol engines, including the 1.6-litre 173bhp turbo petrol that powers the Hyundai HED-6 concept.

The range-topping Hyundai ix35 diesel will be fitted with Hyundai’s brand new R-engine performance diesel, although probably only in 2.0-litre form rather than the more powerful 2.2. Even so, the 2.0-litre common-rail unit is still good for 181bhp and 289lb ft of torque.

Kia MPV to debut on Geneva motor show

Kia has just announced the introduction of a new concept vehicle for the Geneva Motor Show. The Korean automaker was light on details, saying only that it will be “a great looking MPV” with a “unique glass roof treatment.”

Toyota Losses deepens

Toyota expects to make an operating loss this year three times greater than initially thought, the company has announced.

The company has amended its turnover forecast for 2009, changing the 150 billion yen (£1.1bn) operating loss predicted in late December to 450 billion yen (£3.3bn).

The world’s biggest car manufacturer also has a growing problem of over capacity, and has slashed its vehicle output predictions for 2008/2009 by 1.55 million units since the start of the financial year.

Toyota now expects to produce 7.32 million vehicles by the end of March.

China is now World biggest car market

China is poised to overtake the US as the world’s biggest car-market in 2009, according to estimates released by General Motors.

Based on January’s sales, China’s new car market is forecast to hit 10.7m units by the year’s end, versus 9.8m in the US.

If true, it will mark a further milestone in the meteoric growth of the Chinese new car market, which overtook Japan’s a couple of years ago.

With a population of at least one billion people, China has potentially four times more car buyers than either the US or EU, whose populations are around 240m each.

Today only 200m Chinese are ranked as ‘middle-class’, with a salary big enough to afford a new car, but that figure is expected to grow rapidly in the coming years.

GM estimates that new car sales in January in China reached 790,000 units. GM has to estimate the figures because official numbers take a long time to be collated. The equivalent figure for the US was 668,000.

Pagani Zonda R Revealed

Italian supercar brand, Pagani, has launched its fastest creation ever - the 739bhp Pagani Zonda R - at a gathering of customers and press in Milan.

The new car has been three years in the making, and is what resulted when one customer asked Pagani to create “the ultimate track-day Zonda”.

Inspired by Group C racers such as the Porsche 917 and Jaguar XJR9, the Pagani Zonda R’s design is unencumbered by any requirement for the car to be road-legal or homologated for racing competition; “It was born out of pure creativity,” said Horatio Pagani, owner of Italy’s only remaining independent supercar maker.

The Pagani Zonda R’s all-new body and chassis are made from carbonfibre, aircraft aluminium, titanium and magnesium.

Pagani also claims that the Zonda R is the first car in the world to use a woven mix of carbonfibre and titanium in its basic body structure. “The material is four times more expensive than regular carbonfibre,” explained Pagani, “and means we can shave 25kg from the weight of the ‘tub’.”

The Zonda R shares only 10 per cent of its parts with the Zonda F. With a 50mm wider track and a 48mm longer wheelbase, the car is wider, lower and almost 400mm longer than a Zonda F.

Powering the car is a development of the Mercedes 6.0-litre racing engine that powered the late-1990s CLK GTR racer. The mid-mounted narrow-angle V12 produces 739bhp at 7500rpm and 524lb ft of torque.

The Zonda R weighs just 1070kg, giving it a Bugatti Veyron-beating power-to-weight ratio of more than 700bhp per tonne. Pagani claims that the Zonda R is capable of 0-62mph in just 3.0sec and a 233mph maximum speed. It should also be capable of significantly improving on the Zonda F’s 7min 28sec record lap of the Nurburgring.

The Zonda R’s rear wing is much larger than the Zonda F’s and is accompanied by a large rear diffuser and a front splitter. Together they produce 2000kg of downforce at 186mph.

The Zonda R costs almost €1.4m (£1.24m) plus taxes, three times as much as a Zonda F. Only 16 will be built, and only five of those are still unsold. “We built a scale model of this car to show at Geneva last year,” Pagani said. “Before then I was not sure there was a market for it, but at the show and afterwards we took nine deposits, which gave us funds to increase the development budget.”

“The car’s long been a crazy dream of mine,” he continued, “but I never expected to find so many people who were just as crazy.”

Bangle quits Auto manufacturer BMW

BMW’s design chief Chris Bangle is leaving the company and the car industry after 17 years at the firm, BMW has announced.

Bangle, who is known for his striking and controversial designs such as the BMW X6 and the previous-generation BMW 7-series, will be succeeded as the man in charge of BMW, Mini and Rolls-Royce design by Adrian van Hooydonk, currently BMW's head of design.

A BMW statement said Bangle, who was also responsible for Mini and Rolls-Royce designs, was leaving to “pursue his own design-related endeavours beyond the auto industry.”

"Christopher Bangle has had a lasting impact on the identity of BMW Group's brands,” said Klaus Draeger, BMW's development chief. “His contribution to the company's success has been decisive."

Although controversial, 52-year-old Bangle’s designs have been a commercial success and the flame-surfacing effect pioneered by his work on the Fiat Coupe and popularised by the BMW 5-series and Z4 have been widely imitated.

Van Hooydonk has been closely involved with the design of BMW's forthcoming Progressive Activity Sedan, a five-door hatch with styling halfway between a 5-series Touring and an X6. A PAS concept will be shown at next month's Geneva motor show.

New Zealands super car

New Zealand’s only supercar manufacturer revealed its rival for the Caparo T1, the Hulme CanAm, at the New Zealand A1GP.

The 600bhp hulme CanAm supercar is powered by a 7.0-litre V8 from the Corvette Z06 and is targeting a 0-62mph time of less than three seconds. Top speed is claimed to be 198mph.

Designed and built by 68-year-old Jock Freemantle, the Hulme CanAm has been in development for six years at a reported cost of more than £1.7m.

It is named after New Zealand’s 1967 F1 World Champion Denny Hulme and is expected to go on sale in Europe in 2010.

The Hulme CanAm will be priced at around £200,000, the same price as the Caparo T1.

Cadillac converj Car Images and specification

The Cadillac Converj is still just a concept. Even though I'm far from the only motor journalist to have gushed over the star of the North American International Auto Show, General Motors' brass hasn't given a production version the green light. To refresh your memory, the Converj is a sexy 2+2 coupe riding on a version of the Chevrolet Volt's Voltec platform, powered by a 16 kW set of lithium-ion batteries with a 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine for recharging purposes only. We'll have more details in an upcoming issue of Motor Trend magazine and of course here at MT.com.

One obvious issue regarding its green light: the Converj is a two-door coupe. My kind of car. And the kind of car designers love to draw.

Designers, working for GM as well as its competitors, haven't drawn many coupes in recent years because two-door models are tough to sell. Auto marketing executives consider them too "fashionable": they sell well in their first year of production, then drop off too quickly for the remaining three to five years of their lifecycle.

So GM management is considering a four-door version of the Converj concept for production, which wouldn't be earlier than about 2013, in order to make a more solid business case for the car. Vice chairman Bob Lutz says a production Converj would be as different from the concept model as the production Chevy Camaro is to its concept -- there aren't many differences.

The Converj sedan's rear doors would probably have hidden door handles, and the rakish roofline would remain intact, creating a "four-door coupe" like the Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class, Audi A7 (Sportback concept) and others.

GM will show these options to clinics in order to help make a decision on the car. So, we thought, why not conduct a clinic of our own? Which do you prefer? Cadillac Converj two-door coupe, or four-door? More importantly, which one would you buy?
